This tough lady, Vernia Barton, was in her 80s when the photo was taken. I understand that she had a very difficult life, living in caves in Arkansas as a child after her mother died. Vernia had 13 children, only 7 of whom survived childhood. This drawing was requested for her oldest daughter's birthday.
